Three weeks after the opening of the world’s newest airport, Al Maktoum, which serves the huge enterprise zone of Dubai World Central, things are already looking good.

HOTELS at Al Maktoum Airport

You may want to get straight to your destination or perhaps if you’ve taken a long haul flight into Al Maktoum, you’ll just want to get some much needed sleep within minutes of landing. If you decide to ‘land and stay’ there are a number of options available to you. Eventually there’ll be a five star hotel on the airport complex, part of one of the luxury terminals but for now you’ll have to leave the vast airport complex and travel to one the hotels recently completed in Dubai World Central.

The nearest is the Movenpick Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai, just over three miles from the airport. Several others are all found within a ten mile radius, within the centre of Dubai World Central or on the waterfront at nearby Mina Jebel Ali. Most of the hotels offer a courtesy collection from the airport either by air-conditioned minibus or private taxi – simply contact the hotel when you book, or you can collect a pre-booked hire car from the airport and save yourself the wait and the extra cost.

How do I get Into Dubai City Itself?

Dubai City is further away than you might think with an average journey time of 50 minutes for the journey along the Sheikh Zayed Road.

The road into the city can get very congested hence the journey time and if the main road is choked, an alternative is the Emirates Road which parallels Sheikh Zayed Road inland.

What’s the Best way of Getting a Good Deal on Hotels Near Al Maktoum International Airport?

At the moment, hunting for a hotel near the airport is quite a feat of endurance, many hotel comparison sites seem to mix up Dubai World Central with Dubai International and there’s a big danger you’ll end up booking a hotel near the wrong airport. We found the best one to be hotelplanner.com which has a wide selection of hotels within a few minutes of the airport and at budgets to suit most pockets.
