The flight from Budapest which landed late morning and on time, joins the dozens of cargo flights which have taken off and landed at the airport since it first opened in 2010.

Expected eventually to have a capacity of 160m per annum, the initial phase, which sees the budget airline terminal open first, will operate with a capacity of seven million. Six airlines committed to the opening date with routes extending from the Middle East to Eastern Europe but already other airlines are lining up to take advantage of the 21st century facilities that will see the airport become not only the biggest but potentially the best airport in the world.

Ostensibly serving the massive enterprise zone; Dubai World Central, it’s expected that the airport will become one of the world’s major international hubs once the expected meteoric growth in Asian tourism takes off.

Over the next few years, the two planned luxury terminals will come online, one for the exclusive use of Emirates and the five runways will see simultaneous take-off and landing of aircraft up to the size of the super jumbo; the Airbus A380.

Inside the terminal, a link to a huge and ostentatious shopping mall will allow passengers and visitors to access over a hundred stores including many designer boutiques. Food courts serving a wide range of international cuisine will satisfy the hungry traveller whilst business people will be able to gain rapid access to the companies which have taken commercial space in the vast Dubai World Central park.
